National Datacast logoNational Datacast’s MediaLink network device leverages the ZTE MC2718 EVDO CDMA Module to Provide Improved Signal Reach, Lower Operating Costs Via File Sharing over LAN

ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”), a publicly-listed global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions announced today that National Datacast, Inc., a national provider of point-to-multipoint digital media connectivity, has successfully integrated and gained network approval for MediaLink, a low cost network communication device. MediaLink was designed to efficiently extend the reach of National Datacast’s wireless network to multiple digital signage players within one location, while reducing expense and increasing flexibility with a single integrated antenna and DTV tuner.

MediaLink is a hybrid device that integrates an ATSC TV receiver with a MC2718 PCI Express Mini Card from ZTE to provide a comprehensive connectivity solution. By leveraging the ZTE MC2718 EVDO CDMA module, National Datacast is able to provide a more comprehensive connectivity solution to end users. Furthermore, ZTE’s aggressive pricing structure for the module has enabled MediaLink to be delivered at a significant savings and flexibility to National Datacast customers. MediaLink can also be configured to provide 2-way maintenance support by means of wireless communications with the ZTE MC2718 PCI module, leveraging communication capabilities of the nation’s CDMA network.

ZTE’s MC2718 PCI Express Mini Card is a CDMA EVDO Rev A embedded module that can be integrated into laptops, tablets, routers, M2M hosts and other devices for 3G mobile data applications. Powered by the Qualcomm® MDM6085 chipset, the MC2718 offers high performance to the user on CDMA EVDO Rev A bands 900/1900 with fallback to 2G.

This receiver/router is a plug-and-play solution that acts as a unified, on-premises distribution point for National Datacast’s network-provided IP data to multiple LAN connected players via Ethernet, Wi-Fi or USB interfaces. MediaLink allows the receiver antenna to be placed for optimal signal strength in a convenient location without the need to be hardwired to the media player located across the room. MediaLink supports IP multicast distribution, similar to satellite, and no special software is required to stream content over the industry standard LAN interfaces.

“MediaLink is an affordable, practical solution designed to address our customers’ needs – extending the reach of network coverage to devices within buildings or structures that would otherwise not have sufficient signal to receive the data, or require cumbersome and invasive installations within the customer environment.” said Kristin Francis, National Datacast’s Director of Sales & Marketing. “National Datacast is pleased to introduce this latest innovation to enhance the value our customers can deliver to their customers.”
